Set as time signature - Use this mode to set traditional Time Signatures. Just drag the Channel Rack to the right where indicated. NOTE: Although this is a global project setting you can change the Pattern Length on theĬhannel Rack to set a custom number of beats per bar for each pattern. If you want to go from Time Signatures back to Time Divisions, you will need to remove all Time Signature markers in the project (Playlist and Patterns). NOTE: If a Time Signature is used in the project, this option will not be available (greyed out). 
Set as time division - This is the grid system used prior to the introduction of Time Signatures (see below). Use these controls to adjust the project Time Signature and event resolution (PPQ). Note: The default save locations for various data-types are discussed here. Auto - Sets the save location to the same folder the project was loaded from. Clear - Clears the custom save location. Folder icon - Opens a browser window to allow a custom project save location to be set. Project save to include them in this folder. Any samples you add to the project from the Browser or other locations will remain where they are, use the. The number of 'beats' you choose simply has to be divisible by the number of true beats in your signature. I simply gave an example of how to program in 3/4 time within fl studio. 12/8 is twelve eighth notes per measure or mathematically equivalent to six quarter notes but with a different feel. 3/4 time is obviously three quarter notes per measure.
There is no way to simply specify a time signature it is how you compose the music that gives the feel. I guess my choice to use theoretical terminology is what caused the confusion. I was simply explaining how to set the DAW up so that you are able to program in the feel of different time signatures and used 3/4 as an example of how to get the feel right. Essentially you could leave the bars at 1 and just make sure your beat count is divisible by the number of beats in your desired time signature. Fl studio doesn't use standard notation or time signatures.
